Education System in Germany

Universities in Germany are of two types: 

500 higher education institutions are officially recognized in 165 towns and cities. They are categorized into three: 

Technical University/ Technische Universität (TU) – They focus on theoretical knowledge and research.
University of Applied Sciences / Fachhochschule – Studies are more practical-oriented and offer bachelor’s programs in general.
Colleges of Art, Film, and Music: They focus on artistic subjects, such as music, architecture, visual arts, drama, dance, and industrial and fashion design.

TEST REQUIREMENT - Germany

IELTS is mandatory in Germany but two institutions provide IELTS waivers:
Technical University/ Technische Universität (TU) – They focus on theoretical knowledge and research.
University of Applied Sciences / Fachhochschule – Studies are more practical-oriented and offer bachelor’s programs in general.
For Bachelor’s –
The minimum IELTS score is an overall 6.5 with no band less than 6.
For Masters’ –
Minimum IELTS score is an overall 6.5 with no band less than 6 or a minimum TOEFL score of 87.
