Education System in Germany

Universities in Germany are of two types: 

  • Private Universities
  • Public Universities

500 higher education institutions are officially recognized in 165 towns and cities. They are categorized into three: 

Technical University/ Technische Universität (TU) – They focus on theoretical knowledge and research.
University of Applied Sciences / Fachhochschule – Studies are more practical-oriented and offer bachelor’s programs in general.
Colleges of Art, Film, and Music: They focus on artistic subjects, such as music, architecture, visual arts, drama, dance, and industrial and fashion design.

Work Rights and Stay back Policies- Germany

  • International students can work for 120 full working days or 240 half working days per year.
  • The student wages range from 8 to 12 Euros per hour. Working on or outside of the campus is possible for students.
  • If the student has better German language skills, they will get entitled to higher wages.
  • Non-EU students can stay up to 1.5 years after completing the course to search for a job.
  • After five years of working in Germany, graduates can get residence rights for indefinite periods.

Cost of studies in Germany

For Bachelors:
  • Tuition Fees- € 10,000 - € 15,000 approx
  • Social contribution for 3 years will be 500 Euros * 6 Semesters = 3000 Euros
For Masters:
  • Tuition Fees - € 7000 - € 15,000 approx
  • Social contribution for 2 years will be 500 Euros * 4 Semesters = 2000 Euros

TEST REQUIREMENT - Germany

IELTS is mandatory in Germany but two institutions provide IELTS waivers:
  • Arden University
  • EU Business School
  • GISMA Business School

For Bachelor’s –
The minimum IELTS score is an overall 6.5 with no band less than 6.
For Masters’ –
Minimum IELTS score is an overall 6.5 with no band less than 6 or a minimum TOEFL score of 87.
