Eight Government-funded Universities provide undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. They are of two types:

Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) – There are 16 government-funded Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics.
Private Tertiary and Training Establishments – It provides a diverse range of studies like arts, hospitality, computer studies, quality management, ecotourism, and many more.

Work Rights and Stay back Policies

  • Students can work 20 hours/week part-time during classes and 40 hours/week during holidays.
  • The minimum wage in New Zealand is 21.20 NZD, equivalent to 1000 Rs Approx.
  • Students undertaking 12 months or more may work full-time during the holidays.
  • The spouse of a student can also work full-time during the study program period if their partner is studying a full-time course of level 7 or 8 specified in the Long-Term Skill Shortage List/Green List.
  • Partners of students studying a course of Level 9 and above can work full time without any conditions.

Cost of Study in New Zealand

  • Tuition fees vary according to the course and university. Generally, its around 13,500-22,000NZ$/year

TEST REQUIREMENT

 IELTS is an essential requirement for admission. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) & TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) requirements for various programs are: 

Undergraduate Diploma, Level 6 –
6.0 with no band less than 5.5
Bachelors, Level 7 –
6.0 with no band less than 5.5
Graduate Diplomas, Level 7 –
6.0 with no band less than 5.5
Postgraduate Diplomas, Level 8 –
6.5 with no band less than 6.0
Masters, Level 9 –
6.5 with no band less than 6.0
