Education Institutions in Sweden

There are around 40 universities with 900 programs in Sweden. 6 Swedish universities are among the world’s top 200 (QS World Rankings 2022)

Universities in Sweden are of two types:  

1) Public Universities 

2) Public University College (a högskola(college) – Has limitations in awarding doctoral degrees (Ph.D.))

  • Students can get degrees at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
  • Students can have a say in their education, and the institutions operate with a higher level of autonomy and a credit system to structure courses and programs.
  • Masters programs are offered in close collaboration with local industry. For specialized courses and study programs institutions allow students to interact with the local community.

Cost of Study in Sweden

The tuition fees usually range between SEK 70,000 and 170,000 per academic year (around EUR 7,000-17,000). The exact amount will depend on your program, level of degree, and the university you choose. Also, the cost of living can be approximately 8514 SEK per month.

Test Requirements

  • IELTS (For Bachelors)- 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 (some programs may require a higher IELTS of overall 6.5)
  • IELTS (For Masters)- 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 (waiver possible for Engineering students)
  • STEM graduates- IELTS/GRE is exempted
  • Management students- IELTS, as per the University Requirement
